Fun With Pumpkins

Maya's new favorite thing is pumpkins. Pumpkins! She wanted a pumpkin painted on her face, pumpkin stickers, pumpkin fake tattoos and she won't stop parading her pumpkin around the house. Pumpkins! So we went to the local pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin to carve and I was surprised to find they also had a petting zoo. Bunnies, deer, geese, horses, donkeys, and goats. Not just goats but baby goats! Itty bitty, cute as a button, don't-tell-Jason-but-I'm-totally-taking-this-little-guy-home-with-me goats! Maya even spent about twenty minutes trying to make sure her one little kernel of corn went to the baby goat and not to the bigger guys.

Just in case you were wondering what Maya has done lately in school.

Fall Carnival

We went with some friends to a fall carnival at a local church. It was perfect for toddlers, with two bounce houses and face painting, the kids had a lot of fun. Maya was in a funk that day but was able to come out of it long enough to get her face painted.

For some reason Maya is uneasy around dogs, even the tiny ones, but perfectly fine around horses that could take her out with one kick.

Nice to see the paint easily washes off with a little drool.

Decisions, Decisions

I'm sure this is the last year we can get away with avoiding the rides at the fair, Maya saw them and wasn't the least bit interested. I'm all for putting off the rides since I'm not exactly looking forward to having to ride on the worm coaster. That ride is just WILD. So instead, we let Maya have a try at the ducky booth. All you do is pick out three ducks and you get a prize, perfect for preschoolers. Well. . . you could say Maya had a difficult time making a decision. There was a lot of me pleading with her to pick up a ducky and as soon as she would finally pick one, she would drop it. It's like she was in shock at the quantity of rubber duckys.

It's a toddler's dream come true.

Can I Get That Deep Fried?

Oh yeah. The deep fried stand at the State Fair. Deep fried cookie dough? Absolutely. Snickers? Oreos? Pepsi? Yes, yes and yes. Can you call it a fair without deep fried Pepsi? Maya has always had an undeniable sweet tooth, this is a child that runs into the kitchen as soon as I get the mixer out to beg for a taste of the batter. She haunts the kitchen if you even mention the word cupcake. So we decided to test her sweet tooth. I have always wanted to try one of the weird deep fried foods they offer at the fair but I've never been brave enough. I think a part of me was kind of afraid that if you ate a fried candy bar then your foot would just fall off. Forget the diabetes and insulin shots, your body will just accept defeat and off it will go. So after Jason and I each tried a deep fried oreo and our feet were still firmly intact, we decided to let Maya have a taste. . .

there's hope after all.

P-R-O-C-R-A-S-T-I-N-A-T-I-O-N

These are Maya's 2 year pictures that we had taken about 2 months after the fact. I should have mailed these out to certain people 6 weeks ago. I guess I got caught up pondering the great mysteries of life, or maybe I was just too lazy, we may never know.

If you are among those wondering where your pictures are, don't worry, they're on my dresser.

So This Is What It Has Come To

For her birthday, Granny and Papaw gave Maya a bunch of Little People and accessories and she couldn't enjoy them more. She wants to play with them as soon as she wakes up, after breakfast, right after lunch, and all the way up to bedtime. Unfortunately, Maya does not want to play alone. No, she wants Mommy and Daddy to play as soon as they wake up, after breakfast, after lunch, and All. The. Way. Up. To. Bedtime. It's amazing how quickly this turns into torture. Forget waterboarding. I'm much more terrified of that little voice calling out from her room " Come IN, Mommy, come IN!"

Maya has also decided to designate our own little friends. Meet Maya's friend:

Daddy's friend:

Mommy's friend:

As we are dragged into her room she shoves our "friend" into our hands so that we may all play restaurant. That's it. We play restaurant twenty times a day with these incredibly tiny people.
